What People Are Saying
From Our Follett Early Learning Experts
Photographs and easy-to-follow text introduce students to the different methods used to forecast weather, covering topics such as climate, air masses, air pressure, satellites, and radar, and includes instructions for making a rain gauge.
From the Publisher
Should you bring your umbrella to school today? What if there's a snowstorm? Weather forecasters gather the information that helps us stay safe, warm, and dry every day.
Library Media Connection (May/June 2012)
Because of minimal text, photographs and illustrations are even more important and necessary in this series. Forecasting Weather is the most problematic, but despite its shortcomings is an attractive book. The best of the series is The Water Cycle, which is well written and has illustrations that relate directly to the text and are good quality. In an effort to keep the word count low, the authors have sacrificed clarity. All titles include a project and access to the publisher's Facthound website. Glossary. Websites. Table of Contents. Index. Karen Perry, Educational Reviewer, High Point, North Carolina. ADDITIONAL SELECTION.
School Library Journal (November 1, 2011)
K-Gr 1-Marred by imprecise language ("Since time began, people have watched the skies;" "Evaporation is the first step in the water cycle"), these primer-level surveys are too uneven to be dependable introductions. Fledgling readers may be drawn to the large, informative photos; the large, spacious-looking spreads; and to the very simple project at the end of each volume. Projects of particular note are crafting a balloon rocket in Space and making recycled paper in Recycle. However, the most useful features here are the closing lists of print and (through the publisher's Web link) Web resources. (c) Copyright 2011.
